Thank you to everyone that has supported me this far. The Raffle for the Sean Payton autographed bat and the party at the Columbia Street Tap Room during the Seahawks game (minus the game of course) was a huge success.
I am running my first half marathon in Baton Rouge on January 19th for Team Gleason. For those of you that do not know, Steve Gleason was a Saints player that made blocked a punt against the Atlanta Falcons in our first game back in the Dome since Katrina. Years later, he was diagnosed with ALS and his story has transcended beyond himself and his cause and his "No White Flags" motto has become an inspiration for thousands, if not millions, of people.
My high school swimming coach, mentor, and friend, Donnie Jarrell lost a tough fight against ALS in June of 2005. I am running in his memory. I have enough Donnie-isms running through my head that will keep me going. Donnie was an inspiration to many. The way he lived his life with ALS and without was something I wanted to emulate on a daily basis. I would like to think that if they had the chance, Steve Gleason and Donnie Jarrell would have been close friends.
