BENEFITING: RIDING ON INSULIN
EVENT DATE: Nov 10, 2013
Gabriel Bowen Thorp passed away on January 18, 2013, from complications arising from Sudden Onset Juvenile Diabetes. Gabe was seven years old, and is survived by his dad, Lewis, Mom, Heidi, and sister, Lelia. He was a giant among boys; a sweet, vibrant soul who had a profound impact on all who knew and loved him.
In loving memory of sweet, wonderful Gabe, this fundraiser has been created to raise money to support other children and families with Type I Diabetes. Through the non-profit "Riding on Insulin," children and families affected by this disease can come together in a safe environment and participate in exciting action sports and adventure.
I will be running the 2013 Athens, Greece Marathon in honor of Gabe and to raise money to support this organization. I hope you join me in supporting this cause and the fight to cure juvenile diabetes. If you choose not to donate, then please help spread the message about the signs and symptoms of juvenile diabetes and prevention screening for our children. Blood sugar testing is a simple, easy screening tool that can be performed in any doctor's office at very little cost.
Now, let's Run for Gabe!
