BENEFITING: JORDAN HACKETT FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
On Monday, October 23, my husband and I received wonderful news - Chorionic Villus Sampling revealed that the baby I am carrying does not have any birth defects that could be incompatible with life. We had gone through this before with our daughter Cheyanne, as I had tested high-risk for trisomies 13 and 18 when I was pregnant with her and spent two terrible weeks waiting for the results. We are grateful and realize how truly lucky we are to have one healthy child and another on the way.
Sadly, not all parents will share our good fortune. Stephen and Karen Hackett were only able to spend a few blessed months with their son Jordan, but they have ensured that his legacy will impact thousands of families in a positive way. The Jordan Hackett Foundation funds special projects to provide support and comfort for the families of children in the Pediatric Critical Care Unit (PCCU) at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
I was 4 months into my training plan when we found out I was pregnant, and my doctor has cleared me to participate in the ING New York City Marathon on November 4, 2012. I will be 16 weeks pregnant, and will need your support to waddle to the finish line in 4:30:00! By supporting my race, you will be supporting parents with children in the PCCU who are dealing with challenges most of us cannot begin to imagine.
Thank you so much!
