Running For Liz
Organized by: Megan Jones
Tutti and I (and hopefully many friends!) will be running the second half of this month for our friend Liz Miller, who is battling Stage II Breast Cancer.
Our girl Tuttipaesi is currently spending National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the care of trainer Bill Mott in Saratoga Springs, NY, training for a comeback after 18 months away from the races. Each day that she trains, I will match that distance myself in running for Liz and Breast Cancer Awareness and we hope that you’ll donate to our cause online here!
Our goal is to raise funding to assist Liz in her ongoing expenses during this time.
For those who don't know Liz, we went to school together for many years at the grand ol' Byrnes Schools (miss that place!) in Quinby, South Carolina. She is a 29-year-old single mom to her 7-year-old son Johnny and was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer in May of this year. She lives in Florence, SC and is currently undergoing chemotherapy, which will be followed by surgery and radiation in 2015.
The other important way you can help: Run with Tutti for Breast Cancer Awareness! For every person who matches Tutti’s training mileage each day, we have business sponsors who will donate an additional $1 per runner per day to Liz’s fund, thru Oct. 31. (With each business capped at 20 runners, we currently have the capacity to sponsor up to 80 runners a day for Liz at this time)
Each day I will post in the a.m. on this blog here http://runningforliz.wordpress.com how far Tutti trains and everyone will be able to submit on the day if you’ve matched her workout. In the comment's section, simply submit your name under each day's blog if you've run, or if anyone has trouble with that you can also email it to me at email@example.com

Tuttipaesi is a 4-year-old Thoroughbred filly owned by a partnership of 26 women in Valor Ladies LLC. In April 2013 Tutti was ranked by Horse Racing Nation in the ten most popular 3-year-old fillies among horse racing fans in the U.S. and this October is training for a return to the races after lenthy layoff. She is gutsy, tenacious, extremely loving and, basically, we all love Tutti! Each horse owned by Valor Ladies has a designated cause or charity associated with the partnership. Tuttipaesi runs for breast cancer and at the end of her racing career, a quarter of any net profits seen from her partnership will be donated to Susan G. Komen. A big thank you to my partners, who are always game, fun and immensely sporting, and also to her trainer Bill Mott for sharing her daily mileage with us.
