Running for Maison
Organized by: Kari Olsavsky
Keep on Praying
March 09, 2016
Event Name: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE May 01, 2016
I've run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon and will be running numerous races , with the goal of raising funds for Maison's recovery. I usually "run for a cause" so instead of raising funds for a larger charity , I made the easy decision of running for a family member instead.
Meet Maison-Her Story:
My cousin, Maison Rae, who is only 16 months old, was admitted to Children's Hospital in Detroit, Michigan on November 22, 2015. She was diagnosed with RSV, para-influenza, suffered numerous seizures and respiratory failure in which they had to perform CPR on her for 23 minutes to bring her back to life. Maison was without oxygen to her brain for 17 minutes and a MRI showed that her brain swelled, which has affected her responses. She will now be in the care of a Chronic Care Pediatrician who will work with her through therapy. Maison's recovery can stem from 6 months to a year or even longer. She was released from Children's Hospital on December 29th, 2015. She will be receiving outpatient physical and occupational therapy at home as well as a Nurse to visit her and monitor her progress. We hope and pray that she will make a FULL recovery. Maison has a loving older sister Lilia, and loving parents, Chrissy and Lance.
Maison is a FIGHTER as she has been through so much already and continues to push through but needs your support. Anything you choose to give is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate, thoughts and prayers go a long way as well! Any funds raised will go directly to Maison's family to aid in her medical costs and any financial hardships.
Let's give this little sweetheart the help she needs!!
