Thank you for visiting the fundraising page for Running for Meghan's Foundation (Meghan Shortt Wilent Foundation). We are running the 34th Annual Revolutionary Run 10K/5K at Washington Crossing State Park, PA, on July 4. Please support us by donating to Meghan's Foundation, whose mission is creating awareness and developing programs of yoga and meditation to help our war veterans who are experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder.
Veterans who have attended Meghan's Foundation's free yoga classes (currently in Bucks County & Lehigh Valley area) are men and women from ages 26 to 75, who served in Vietnam, Bosnia, Somalia, Iraq and Afghanistan. They are reporting better sleep and concentration, an ability to calm themselves when confronted with flashbacks, and generally an improved quality of life. This is consistent with studies that have shown the benefits of yoga and meditation as effective tools for alleviating PTSD symptoms.
Our goal is to raise $2,500—that's only 50 donations of $50, or 100 donations of just $25 each!—so Meghan's Foundation can provide many more veterans in PA, NJ and beyond with free yoga and meditation classes. The Foundation has very low overhead costs, so funds can go directly to renting classroom space, hiring yoga teachers with special training in trauma sensitivity, and giving vets their own yoga mats and instruction manuals so they can develop a daily practice at home.
As we participate in this year's Revolutionary Run on our nation's Independence Day, please help support our veterans by making a donation.
