BENEFITING: Migraine Research Foundation Inc.
EVENT DATE: Oct 18, 2014
This year for my birthday I have decided to run in the Baltimore Run Festival Half Marathon to raise money for the Migraine Research Foundation. I hope to raise at least $800 that will go directly to fund research.
Migraine is an extraordinary common disease that affects 36 million men, women and children. A few years ago I developed daily chronic headaches that affected every aspect of my life. Three generations in my family including my grandmother who passed away, my father and myself have all been affected by this chronic disease. My father and I saw a Neurologist and received a list of migraine triggers to avoid in order to decrease or prevent headaches. We strictly follow a specified diet, which as many as my close friends, family and co-workers know, includes not having a sip of caffeine, a bite of chocolate, or a slice of real cheese in the last three and a half years!
I am so thankful that we were lucky enough to find resources to learn about how to control our migraines. Although it has helped tremendously, I still cannot remember a day without a headache. As I learn more about the need for funding, I am becoming increasingly passionate to do anything I can to help fund research that will help my family and the 14 million other people who suffer from daily chronic headaches.
The Migraine Research Foundation was founded in 2006 as the only nonprofit organization dedicated to funding migraine research in the United States. I ask that in celebration of my birthday, instead of cards you may send with money or the drinks you may buy for me at the bar, please make a donation to the Migraine Research Fund. All donations go directly to fund research and any donation will help!
