I am "Running for Mo," my friend Maureen Clancy to fund a girl's track & field scholarship in her memory. We need to raise $50,000 in order to give a $2000 yearly schloarship in perpetuity. I am determined to raise $26,200 prior to October 2104.
I will be running a marathon to raise money and in her honor. I made it into the Marine Corp. Marathon in Washington D.C. on October 26, 2014! I will take with me Mo's spirit and that of my father, Lt. Col. Raymond C. Hellman, a WWII veteran pilot in the US Army Air Corp. and USAF.
The Maureen “Mo” Clancy Memorial Girl’s Track & Field Scholarship was established as an endowment fund in 2014 to honor and remember our good friend Mo Clancy. In 2014, we lost her bright light. Mo touched many lives. She was a dedicated activist in raising awareness of Ovarian Cancer, giving out teal bracelets that read “No Mo Cancer.” Mo was a runner, a Boston Marathoner, active with the SurvivOars and a great cyclist. The track scholarship will be awarded yearly to a local San Luis Obispo County girl who participates in Track & Field and will be enrolling in a college or University.
I am sure Mo would love this, as she was the most caring and giving person. It's my honor to remember her and her loving spirit this way.
