BENEFITING: OSWEGO FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
EVENT DATE: Sep 22, 2013
As I set out to run the Fox Valley Marathon on September 22, I am also raising funds for the N.E.H. Foundation*. This is a venue that honors the life and legacy of a childhood friend (Nick Edward Haben) killed in a hazing incident during our freshman year of college.
The idea for NEH came about last year from a classmate and I joined her and 4 others, including Nick's Mom, in starting the Foundation, where I serve as Secretary/Treasurer. Our main purpose is to encourage positive camaraderie and friendship and contribute to the needs of the students in Oswego School District 308.
We are a very young non-profit organization with limited resources. Our current focus is doing all we can to get the word out about NEH through some basic fundraisers and in-school speaking engagements. Our hope is to raise enough funds in order to help students and teachers across the district with the likes of scholarships, in-classroom grants, etc. that support our mission.
After giving a donation to the N.E.H. Foundation in honor of my marathon, please also consider visiting our (work-in-progress) website (http://nehfoundation.org/) to join our email list and liking us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/NEHFoundation) to follow our journey and to learn how you can help us in the future.
Thank you for your support!
* N.E.H. Foundation is a subsidiary organization of the Oswego Foundation for Educational Excellence (OFEE).
