I am in long term recovery from alcohol and drugs. I was blessed to have the resources to start with a detox program and then continue with 12 step support groups. I now work in the field of substance dependence/co-occurring disorders for a non profit agency that is primarily dependent on state funding for folks that cannot afford treatment services. Often there are significant barriers such as transportation, employment, housing and basic needs that also interfere in a persons ability to obtain and maintain successful treatment. I am running the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon to raise money that will assist the folks that seek help and are in need of resources to help reduce some of the barriers of receiving outpatient treatment services. All donations will be for Gateway to Prevention and Recovery with offices in Shawnee, Chandler and Stillwater. Gateway has been helping people recover from addictions for over 30 years. I have been blessed with restored good health due to my recovery. I ran my first marathon last year at the age of 57. I will be running this year and my goal is to finish and bring as many donations as I can to assist others seeking recovery. Thank you for your attention, prayers, support and donations.
