Why save rhinos? At the turn of the 19th century, there were approximately one million rhinos, in 1970 there were around 70,000, today there are fewer than 25,000 in the wild. The last Javan rhino in Vietnam has just gone extinct. Last year saw a RECORD number (443) of rhino poachings in South Africa. Enough said.
The Mission: ....yes folks, we will be running full marathons in something akin to a portable sauna with an oversized face mask (see pic). Whether its $10 or $10,000 pls donate to the cause (and spread the word!!)....it'll all help to lighten our load, and ultimately to save what rhinos we still have left....
Bringing the message East: Save the Rhino Foundation's Running Rhino's have long been a favourite feature of the London Marathon and a key fundraiser for this important organistaion's effort in the plight to save rhinos. The Flamand brothers plan to take them and their message eastwards has been a great success with inaugaral appearances at first the Dubai (27 Jan) and then the Hong Kong (5 Feb) Marathon....It wasnt easy but nor is the plight of the Rhino....the word has definately spread Eastwards with much hype and publicity around the running rhinos!
The Rhino comes back to London: As the recent numbers of rhinos poached continue to soar, a few boys from Jo'burg have decided to step up the ante and take the suits back to London! Not for the faint hearted, their brave attempt aims to keep the awareness growing and build on the donations for Save the Rhino! Russel Dick, Chunky Burman and Murray Bischop will thus attempt the London marathon 2012 in the suit!! Good luck boys!

Richard & Philippe
