When Sabrina came into our lives, we did not know what the future would be like for this wonderful sweet baby. She has grown into a funny, energetic, charming girl. Let me assure you she charms anyone she meets. She works hard in school, and likes to do chores at home...most of the time.
Sabrina takes excellent care of Leo, the family dog. She makes sure Leo is fed, helps my sister Anne walk him, and loves to play with him. Sabrina's big sister Mary is the volleyball star of the family. When Mary plays, Sabrina is in the stands cheering her on. When her big brother Doug is home from college, there is plenty of one on one playing going on.
Anne is a terrific mom. She is tireless in her efforts to give Sabrina a stable happy home life. She encourages Sabrina to be creative and try new things. Whether it is creating things out of Play-Doh, drawing fun pictures to send Uncle Charlie, record a funny video, or even dance a new dance, Sabrina is ready to tackle it with gusto.
When my partner Mark and I visit, Sabrina brings out all her toys so we can play with her, and of course loves it when her Uncle Charlie swings her around and around. Trust me, Sabrina is surrounded by a family who loves and cherishes her.
I am running in the 2011 Portland Marathon and raising money for National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) in honor of my niece Sabrina. The mission of the National Down Syndrome Society is to be the national advocate for the value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
All we want is for Sabrina to have a bright and happy future. We want her to be strong, productive and enjoy life. NDSS works to make sure people with Downs Syndrome have that kind of future. At the same time, they are a terrific resource for families.
Your donation will go a long way towards making the lives better for Sabrina and thousands of others with Down Syndrome. Please help me towards my goal of $1000 for this worthy organization. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated.
