BENEFITING: STREET LEVEL HEALTH PROJECT
Help me celebrate 24 and create a healthier Oakland!
In just a few weeks, I will be running my first ever half marathon!
Not only will I be taking my body on its longest run ever to date (fulfilling a new year’s resolution!), but to celebrate my impending 24th birthday, I’ve also pledged to raise $2400 for the Street Level Health Project in Oakland!
Street Level Health Project is an Oakland-based grassroots organization dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of underserved urban immigrant communities around the Bay Area. At their East Oakland clinic, they provide health care services to the un- and under-insured, temporary food assistance to those in need, organizing support for day laborers, and legal and social services in Spanish, Mongolian, and Mam (a Mayan language spoken throughout Central America and by thousands of Californians) for recently arrived and monolingual immigrants. Street Level is an organization deeply committed to building power for disenfranchised communities while also providing the critical and immediate services folks need to be healthy today.
In short, this run is a wonderful way for me to take care of my own body and support a tireless organization taking care of the health of those in my community.
Anything you can give (even just $10 or your cheers of encouragement!) would be a huge help!
Thank you for your support! And here's to a healthier Oakland and a bountiful 24th year!
