BENEFITING: United States Olympic Committee
EVENT DATE: May 03, 2015
My first Olympic memory was in 1992 during the Barcelona Summer games. I was watching a water polo match in my living room and pretended that I was in a pool and played my own version of water polo on the floor. Ever since, I have been infatuated with the Olympic spirit and I am continually inspired by the athletes’ perseverance and motivation.
I may have never made it to a real Olympic water polo match - or any Olympic event for that matter - but I know what it takes to devote everything you have to reach a goal.
In May of 2015 I will be giving it my all at the Pittsburgh Half Marathon and am hoping to beat my personal record by at least 27 minutes. To help motivate me I am raising funds in support of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Foundation throughout my marathon training. Please consider donating any dollar amount to help the athletes who are an inspiration for all Americans.
Here is a little bit of a background on why the U.S. needs your support:
Unlike most National Olympic Committees, the U.S. Olympic Committee does not receive federal funding for its Olympic programs. Instead, it relies on the generosity of the American public to help U.S. athletes remain competitive with the rest of the world.
U.S. athletes would not be able to manage the costs of training, equipment, and medical needs without Americans like you - Americans who believe in the Olympic Movement and in the Olympic values, who understand the power of sport to change lives, break down barriers and bring nations together in peace.
