BENEFITING: Water For People
EVENT DATE: Feb 17, 2013
Mileage Tracker: 26
I initially decided to run a marathon because it is one of the items on my "bucket list", but the more I thought about it, the more I felt like I didn't want my first marathon to be all about me. I read, recently, that many girls in Africa, Asia and South America walk several miles every day just to get clean water. Most of those girls never have a chance to go to school or enjoy their childhoods because the need for water collection is so dire where they live.
A marathon is 26.2 miles. That pales in comparison to a lifetime of miles and miles a day to collect water.
I have a passion for raising awareness about water and sanitation needs throughout the world and I have chosen to use my first marathon to try and help an organization that has fueled that passion. Water for People does amazing things to bring water and sanitation solutions to those who desperately need it.
Will you consider sponsoring me with a donation to Water for People? Your contribution will help me to make my marathon miles count for people who travel many more miles just to have safe drinking water. It's a huge problem with simple solutions, but it requires us to work together to make those solutions happen.
I believe that everyone deserves to have clean, accessible water.

Thank you and God Bless!
