THE STORY:

In August of 2017 I had the pleasure of attending the Student & Youth Travel Association Annual Conference on behalf of my employer, Music Travel Consultants. During the event I was able to meet and network with countless professionals who share the common passion of student travel, and who whole heartedly believe in the impact that travel has on youth. It was an incredible and inspiring experience to be surrounded by so many like minded people.

While at the conference, I participated in my first ever 5K, with the SYTA Youth Foundation. While my motivation to participate in that race was personal, I was able to learn about what the goals of SYF are, and was inspired by the stories of students who  SYF has been able to help. After I returned from the conference, I decided that I wanted to help support SYF through more than just my job. I wanted to personally get involved, and challenge myself to make an impact. I'm not often able to make large financial contributions to causes that I feel strongly about, but I try to donate my time whenever possible. Participating with the SYF Run Team will give me the opportuninty to both raise funds and give my time to this new found cause that I strongly believe in.

Growing up I had ample opportunities to travel, visiting family, going away to camps, with competative teams, etc. These seemingly, small experiences ignited a passion in me that continued to grow throughout my drum corps performance career. Travel shaped who I am today, and I strongly believe that anyone who has access to travel will grow positively as a person because of it. I am so grateful to be able to work in an industry that combines my loves of travel and the performing arts, and I want to do what I can to help as many youth gain access to the same opportunities that I was afforded as a student. Participating with the SYF Run Team is the perfect chance to do just that.

SYTA YOUTH FOUNDATION wrote -

The SYTA Youth Foundation Run Team uses long distance running/walking as a symbol of endurance and hope. The goal is simple - to raise money for youth to travel with their schools or youth organizations. Participants on the Run Team fundraise on behalf of the SYTA Youth Foundation, train and participate and run/walk in honor of a student who has been chosen to receive a Road Scholarship. The Running for Youth Team will be running on behalf of the SYTA Youth Foundation in June 9-10, 2018.

Please consider joining and supporting our team today!
