BENEFITING: TAALUMA PROJECT INC
The Taaluma Project is a charity started by former Lugano students to fundraise for students in Kenya so they have the opportunity to get a good education. As a way to fundraise, they came up with the idea of Trot For Taaluma.
This year along with all my new experiences, I have decided to set some goals, one being the completion of a marathon! Since my first half marathon in September, I realized how much I love running races, so when I heard there was the opportunity to run a half marathon in Milan, I almost passed out with excitement (literally). With that on the list, I also am running the Nike Women's Half Marathon in April, the Hokie Half Marathon in September, and then finally a full marathon in November!
Thankfully, a handful of us on our trip are running in the half Marathon through Milan, Italy, in March so we have all been training together! As a way to raise money, we are all logging the amount of miles we run each day training. I want to use my passion and love of running to help make a difference, so through this year and all my races, I will be fundraising for the children in Kenya. It just goes to show that through just doing the things you love and living out your passions, you can change people's lives and potentially make for a better world.
