It's been a goal of mine to run the NYC Marathon since moving here 5 years ago. I have the privilege of running to benefit an amazing organization in Toledo, OH called Kids Unlimited.
Kids Unlimited believes that all children deserve the skills and opportunities to reach their fullest potential, regardless of economic, social and cultural barriers.
They are breaking the cycle of poverty through after-school and summer programs that empower kids to succeed.
I have been a pen pal to the students over the last year and cannot describe how rewarding it has been.
In addition to this being a personal goal of mine and running for KU, I am dedicating these 26.2 miles to Kenny Webster. Kenny lost his battle to cystic fibrosis when we were 15 and I have yet to meet someone as strong and courageous. He runs with me each day as I train for this race.
Thank you so much for your support-- every dollar counts. It means the world to me.
