Running the Portland Marathon to benefit Auckland NICU
Organized by: Wynne Meyer
EVENT DATE Oct 04, 2015
I equate running a marathon with being a parent in the neonatal intensive care unit. It requires hope, perseverance, strength and lots of support from family and friends. I am asking for your help in acknowledging the amazing doctors and nurses who spent weeks, days, and long hours with us and took loving care of Hayden in his early days. Hayden was born at 25 weeks weighing only 1 lb 3 oz, which required extensive medical care. We were so fortunate to have such a positive experience during such a challenging time. The nurses went out of their way to be kind, helpful and friendly--knowing that we were from the U.S. and far away from close friends and family. They were professional and yet, the most caring individuals I've ever met. I've stayed in close touch with one of the nurses and with her help, the funds raised will go directly to the nurses and staff at Auckland NICU.
