Running to Australia
Organized by: Leroy Sumatzkuku
EVENT DATE Jul 01, 2014
Kyle Sumatzkuku has been invited to compete in the Down Under Sports Tournaments' cross country event in Australia. He is proud to represent his community, Arizona, and the United States. Kyle is Native American (Hopi), is 17 yrs old, and a Junior (11th grade) at Tuba City High School in Arizona. This trip has his tribal community excited and supportive, as it has great Hopi cultural meanings. Kyle has been taught, that when he runs, he is running for every living thing on earth and in his travels to leave "footprints", for others to follow, to promote harmony. Hopi believes that they are stewards of the earth and must help to protect "Mother Earth".
