BENEFITING: EMILY SANDALL FOUNDATION INC
Emily Sandall was my sister and my best friend. She was a friend to so many. And she was loved my so many. This year, 2016, I will be running 10 races in memory of her as this November 2016, will be the 10th year since she passed away.
In her short 25 years, Emily volunteered in Mexico and Nepal, working with street children and child laborers to try to help them get access to education. She worked as a guide for a canoe camp, Menogyn, for many years and she was also a guide with Outward Bound.
In her memory, my family and I started a foundation, the Emily Sandall Foundation, to honor the amazing woman that she was and to try to continue the valuable work she did while she was on this Earth. The Emily Sandall Foundation supports organizations that Emily deeply cared about. 100% of donations to the Emily Sandall Foundation goes towards organizations including:
-The Sankhu-Palubari Community School (SPCS), the school in Nepal that Emily volunteered at and raised money for. This school provides free education to children in poverty and provides children with an alternative to child labor.
- Garden's Edge. The Emily Sandall Foundation has partnered with Garden’s Edge (Qachuu Aloom) located in Rabinal, Guatemala to provide scholarships for Mayan girls to study in middle and high school in Rabinal, Guatemala.
- Menogyn Canoe Camp. Every year, the Emily Sandall Foundation provides a scholarship for a child to be able to go to Menogyn for a summer.
