As many of you know, I will be running the NYC Half Marathon on March 18. While there are so many things for which I am grateful, there are two things that have stood out as particularly fortunate experiences for me-- discovering my love for running early in life and having access to an exceptional education without struggle. My participation in the half marathon is an opportunity to pay tribute to both of these gifts. I am writing to ask you for your help in supporting this tribute by donating to an organization, Avanti Fellows, that is committed to bridging the educational divide in India by finding bright students from low-income homes and giving them access to the training and mentorship they need to succeed. In deciding to become involved with and personally donate to Avanti, I have been struck and most impressed by their approach. By combining mentorship, training and coaching, Avanti helps underprivileged students access a college education at one of India's premier universities, a privilege historically reserved for more affluent populations. Please go to their website, www.avantifellows.org, for more information regarding the organization's mission and programs.
Please know that any donation, small or large, will go an incredibly long way in ensuring that bright, ambitious students in India are given the same chance to learn and grow as we all were.
Please feel free to forward this email to your friends and family.
Thank you in advance for your support and generosity-- it means so much to me and even more to the Avanti Fellows. I hope to see those of you who live locally on race day and promise to make all of you proud.
