EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
I'm running the 2016 Pittsburgh Marathon for Ryan in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 10 years ago, Ryan Swanson was brought into my life, and I am so thankful for it. At age 15, I became babysitter to baby Ryan, and his then two year old brother Jack. As a teenager, I was too young to understand the severity of Cystic Fibrosis - All I knew was to give him his enzymes, breathing treatments, and as much love as he could handle - not cognizant of how important everything was to his health. With all of the love and support from his family, friends, and supporters of Cystic Fibrosis, Ryan is now making great strides as a healthy, and active nine year old!
Ryan played a huge part in my maturity, and I know I wouldn't be who I am now without him. I would like to do everything in my power to insure that Ryan has a healthy, long life, which is why I am Running for Ryan! If you feel so inclined to donate any amount that you can to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in support of Run 4 Ryan - I would greatly appreciate it, as this little boy means the world to me!
Last year, with the support of wonderful friends and family I was able to raise over $1000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which enabled me to recieve a "CF Super Hero" Cape, which I wore during the 2015 Pittsburgh Half Marathon. There was nothing more gratifying than wearing that cape which Ryan wonderfully decorated, and the culminating moment to all of this was not the finish line, but when I saw Ryan at mile 11, and his giant grin. He was so excited to see 'Super Brit' in her super hero cape, the cape which Ryan now proudly displays on his bedroom wall, because in all actuality, he is the true super hero!
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those with CF! Thank you for supporting the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and my attempts to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and RUN 4 RYAN!
