EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
Friends, I hope you will support me by making a donation for this fundraiser that is very near and dear to my heart.
I am delighted to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by running on a relay team with my family in the Pittsburgh Marathon on May 7, 2017. Our five member team is named "". We chose this fun team name to show love for a family member who is running on our team! This team runner has Cystic Fibrosis and received a double lung transplant at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2010. It was and continues to be a life-saving double lung transplant. Isn't this amazing and so awesome?
Will you please support team "", by making a donation of any size, small or large? Our team wants to see medical research find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. We are running to the finish line for a cure!
What Is Cystic Fibrosis? Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections, and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food. In the 1950s, few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend elementary school. Today, advances in research and medical treatments have further enhanced and extended life for children and adults with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond. Learn more about Cystic Fibrosis and at the Western PA Cystic Fibrosis Foundation chapter: www.cff.org/wpa
