As some of you know, I have lived with Crohn's Disease since I was a teenager. I was diagnosed after months of mysterious symptoms when I was 17 years old. It hasn't always been easy, but with the support of many friends and family, as well as various treatments, medications and surgery, I have managed.

While I have struggled at times with Crohn's, I am just one of more than 1.4 million Americans who suffer from these diseases. I want to do this help all of my fellow Crohn's & Colitis sufferers find relief, have a better quality of life, and hope that one day none of us will ever think about these diseases again. Particularly, I want to do this to support my family members who also suffer from Crohn's. A few years after I was diagnosed, my sister was diagnosed with Crohn's as well. Then, this past year my Mom was diagnosed with Crohn's disease.

We're just a few examples of why we need to race to find a cure for Crohn's. There are millions of others around the world who suffer from Crohn's and Colitis. I hope I can do my small part for them, particularly those who are not able to join Team Challenge due to the difficulties of the disease.

As a member of Team Challenge, I have a coach, a training program, and teammates to support me. I have committed to a training schedule that ensures I will run or walk my way to success, and I’ve pledged to raise $3,200 in donations to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America by July 9th.

I am motivated and committed to do this and know we that together we make a difference! The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is committed to improving the lives of children and adults with these diseases, and so am I! Please help support this important cause by giving generously.

CCFA is a nationally top-ranked charity and a minimum of 82 cents per dollar raised goes directly to research and patient support, and your contribution is tax deductible.

Thank you for your support!!

About Team Challenge
Team Challenge is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America’s endurance training and fundraising program. With Team Challenge, you’ll find new strength inside yourself, and help find cures for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, two painful, seldom-discussed and debilitating digestive diseases. With our Half Marathon and Triathlon Training Programs, you'll train for a rewarding and exciting endurance event at one of our great destination races while raising vital funds for research into these diseases. These dollars will help make new treatments possible and fuel the search for cures.

About Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis
Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis are both major categories of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD). IBD affects an estimated 1.4 million Americans. These chronic diseases tend to run in families and they affect males and females equally. Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract and may affect any part from the mouth to the anus. Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory condition limited to the colon, otherwise known as the large intestine.

About CCFA
Since our founding over four decades ago, CCFA has remained at the forefront of research in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Today, we fund cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurture investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finance underdeveloped areas of research. In addition, our educational workshops and programs, along with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field.
