Greetings friends and family –
I hope the past year has been an excellent one. Despite the weather’s best efforts to prolong indefinitely the chilly doldrums of winter, a faint hint of spring is undeniably here. And with her return, the rebirth of life around us awakens our spirits and tears the shackles of lethargy from around our necks. It’s a testament to renewal and a call to arms to rise up and seek out challenges and new experiences and to give thanks for the opportunities available in this world.
On the morning of May 5th, we - Ruth’s Runners - will embrace this ethos as we embark on our second annual run to support MS. MS is something very near to our hearts. Matt’s mom has been living with the disease for over 10 years. It is a horrible and unrelenting autoimmune disease that affects its victims on many levels. There is no cure but much progress has been made to help improve the lives of those afflicted. Matt’s mom, as you all know, is the embodiment of positive attitude. A woman who simply will not allow a disease to dictate her life. She is an inspiration to us all who find ourselves too often despairing in the face of life’s little obstacles. So no more despair. In its place, a challenge. An opportunity to do something. In the words of Ben Franklin, “instead of cursing the darkness, light a candle”.
Our candle is a 10-mile run through the heart of Philadelphia. Please support our efforts by making a donation to help fund MS research.
All proceeds will go to the National MS Society, an outstanding and passionate organization that supports and funds important MS research. Last year we raised over $2,000 thanks to your generous support. We hope you can help us again.
Thank you for your care and support. And we hope to see some of you on race day!
