BENEFITING: Runwell: The Linda Quirk Foundation
ORGANIZER: Runwell: The Linda Quirk Foundation
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!! As many of you already know, on November 3rd I will be running the NYC marathon. This experience is especially meaningful because as a transplanted New Yorker in South Florida I am excited to run the streets of NYC again, and because this time around I will be running as a proud member of Team Runwell.
Runwell is a non-profit foundation dedicated to inspiring individuals to lead healthy, active lifestyles. It encourages anyone involved with drug or alcohol addictions, from chemical dependents to their friends and families, to get involved in sports. Runwell believes partnering sports with addiction treatment helps to keep individuals - and their support bases - committed to recovery. The foundation focuses on funding existing scholarship programs and support-based training facilities that involve the entire family, much like the treatment center that helped to save my life.
Back in March 2012, I was given the generous chance at recovery when my parents sent me to Caron Pennsylvania and then Caron Renaissance in South Florida. Through the help of family, friends, and the many supports I have met along the way, I recently celebrated my first year of sobriety and am continually amazed by the many of "gifts of recovery" I continue to receive. My life today is amazing and I am so grateful to have been given the chance to recreate my life as a sober woman. In an effort to pay it forward, I am running to raise awareness and money for both Runwell and Caron Renaissance's scholarship program. My goal is to raise $5000 this summer and hopefully more in the future! I will keep you updated of my training and fundraising progress and thank you in advance for any help you may be able to offer.
