I run so that vulnerable moms don’t have to when they are seeking care. On April 26th I will be running my fourth marathon for Every Mother Counts at the Virgin Money London Marathon. This will be my second race experience outside of the US and my first international premiere marathon. I have been running to raise awareness and funds to improve access to quality maternal healthcare since 2011. That’s one marathon a year for the last five years and a few half marathons in between, which adds up to thousands of miles for mothers.
By running I am educating others about one of the biggest barriers women face every day when in need of critical maternal healthcare and improving my own health at the same time. When I was pregnant I had access to information and choices of a range of health providers. Millions of women don’t have these simple luxuries that many of us take for granted. With your support Every Mother Counts can continue to link these women to critical care that can save lives at birth. We will educate midwives, provide transportation and supplies that will help to ensure better birth outcomes around the world.
