Sean Casey is an amazing organization and helped me find my new friend Rupert. We would love to help them back!
So, this handsome little guy is fairly new in my life. This spring, I lost my best friend, Ivan - my 13 year old Siamese. He died naturally on his own terms, after our long, successful battle with his cancer. To distract myself, I sometimes searched to see if any goofy little meezers were looking for homes.
Then I saw Rupert's picture. I'd planned to meet him before the shelter closed and hopefully come back. Then, I lifted the most pathetic little rescue meezer out of his crate. Rupert (then called Tapioca) was still growing his fur back after being treated for flea dermatitis. He'd recently left a foster home where he'd stayed since Hurricane Sandy and had been neutered several days before. I was told that he'd been meowing so loudly that it often sounded as though he was barking. The little guy had been through a lot, and I expected hiim to be afraid. Instead, he clung to me and put his face right in mine. It was obvious that Rupert had been loved by someone and missed them very much. I could relate and decided I wanted to take him home right away.
Even though it was the end of the day before a holiday weekend, the volunteers and Sean himself took the time to answer all my questions to make sure that Rupert would have a good chance of being happy in his new home. We especially discussed how he might do with my other cat. The volunteers, who had rescued Rupert and his brothers and sisters had obviously spent time getting to know him as much as is possible. They gave me all the information good and bad, and helped me complete the adoption that night. Good thing since Rupert started shouting when I put him back in the cage to complete the adoption forms!
Since then, Rupert's been such a gift. And a good sport too! Little guy takes everything into stride...vet appointments to get to the bottom of his allergy issues...vet-recommended baths... And he's polite as can be to big sis - a ten-year old calico who was not too sure about this funny new little meezer at first. A kitty would have the right to grumble, but Rupert just wants to snuggle. Little guy seems happy to be home ,and we're so glad to have him.
Thank you Sean Casey for bringing this wonderful little guy into my life when we really needed each other. And thanks for spending so much time on this no-longer-pathetic little meezer!
