Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) is an international grassroots organization made up entirely of students who believe that the War on Drugs has failed our communities by increasing rates of incarceration for non-violent offensive, perpetuating racism and racial disparities, creating barriers for treatment, housing, education, and employment, and by preventing the dissemination of comprehensive drug education to our youth.

Each SSDP chapter is provided guidance and training from our board of directors and staff on how to address the ways in which the drug war most effects our own communities on campus and beyond. In this way, each chapter is given autonomy to best tackle the issues facing their fellow students and neighbors by providing their communities with education, awareness, advocacy and fighting for the reform of those drug policies at the local and national level.

Roosevelt University's chapter of SSDP has been recognized by the organization as an Outstanding Chapter, in addition to receiving recognition by the university for our contribution to the Illinois Emergency Medical Access Act, also known as the Good Samaritan Law.

We would like to continue to provide our community with the opportunities to learn more about the detrimental effects of the drug war, and we would like to continue to advocate and fight for the reform of such laws and policies. In order to do this, we are asking our friends and family to contribute whatever they can to our cause this holiday season.
