BENEFITING: The Cameron K Gallagher Foundation
EVENT: CKG Shamrock Race Team 2016
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
As many of you may know, I am participating in the Shamrock Half Marathon on March 20th in Virginia Beach. I’ve joined the Cameron K. Gallagher team and am excited to be a part of this amazing group of people who support Cameron’s vision and desire to help teens talk about and speak up about teenage mental illness.
I’m not sure if you know her story but Cameron, who was 16, died just as she crossed the finish line and completed her goal of running the Shamrock Half Marathon in 2014. Training for and completing the race was not Cameron's only struggle. Cameron suffered greatly from depression and anxiety and could not understand why people could not talk about this disease. Cameron wanted to "Speak Up" and help other teens feel comfortable in talking about teenage mental illness.
Cameron did not have the chance to see her dream come true, and so her family and friends have taken this on at the CKG Foundation. They are working hard to raise awareness and remove the stigma associated with teenage depression and mental illness. Cameron's father, David Gallagher, is personal running friend of mine. His positive reaction to such a tragic situation has inspired me to support his family's cause.
Please consider joining me in making a difference in the lives of teenagers, their families, friends and loved ones. You can donate to my race and/or join our race team. I'd love to have you participate in any way that is meaningful to you.
I do hope you will consider supporting this great cause that is helping teens live with this disease each and every day. It will be an awesome experience to celebrate Cameron on this 2nd anniversary.
Thank you for your support!
