RVCP: For Rwandans, By Rwandans.
Founded in 2000, the Rwandan Village Concept Project was initiated by students at the University of Rwanda, hoping to provide sustainable improvement in the health and living conditions for underserved communities in the Southern Province of Rwanda. These villages were devastated following the 1994 genocide, with increasing poverty and less hope. To date, RVCP has collaborated with over 25 targeted villages in the Butare/Huye region, with multiple programs including HIV education, Adolescent Reproductive Health, Malaria Prevention and Income Generation. From mosquito nets to Women’s Coopertives, RVCP represents an incredible scope of services and community-based programs. They are inspired by the people they serve, and work in partnership in every aspect of their projects. They need your help.
The video you see is of a dance troupe from Muyurbogo, in the Huye District. They have been invited to perform at weddings and special events—lucrative offers—but are unable to accept because they lack appropriate costumes. If they had costumes, they could generate income to pay school fees and other expenses. This is one of the many collaborations of RVCP. As a community, they dance together. Join our global community and support their efforts to build a self-determined, sustainable future.
