BENEFITING: RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE OF NEW YORK
EVENT DATE: Nov 05, 2017
I have been wanting to run the NYC marathon for sometime but never had a cause close enough to home to raise for. This past January I drove to Orlando to meet my furture business partner and his head programmer. We spent a week at a conference table getting to know one another, the product, our future vision for the company and our lives.
During this time I learned about my partners three young sons, his commitment to faith and his large depth of knowledge of the industry. I was suprised by his immediate willingness to share his story about his youngest son's illness. Nolan King was battling a rare form of cancer within children.
Nolan left us in April after almost a year long battle. I did not know the proper protocol for something like this, especially after such a brief time getting to know someone who will most likely share so many experiences of success and failure in the future. I chose the route of giving space having no idea what their family was going through. We have recently re-engaged our business discussions and I wanted to show my support for the family by raising donations in honor of Nolan by running the 2017 TCS NYC Marathon. Please donate what you can for this cause that has become closer to my heart and shown me how fragile life can really be. I also ask you to say a prayer for the King family and all those famalies and people who are suffering through terminal illnesss.
The charity selected is the Ronald McDonald House New York where the King family stayed durring Nolan's final battle. Below is a description of the foundation.
