EVENT: Spartan Race 2014

Most of you know that I made a decision last year to try out a Spartan race (http://www.spartan.com/). They are essentially athletic challenges for people who want to push themselves, physically and mentally.
After my 1st race last year, I set a goal of completing three levels: a sprint, super and beast (what they call a trifecta). I accomplished this goal and was told last year, when I was 15 years old, that I was the youngest in the country to complete a trifecta. Here's an article I was interviewed for (http://blog.spartanrace.com/youngest-trifecta-finisher-ryan-fishbein/ and http://www.obstacleracermagazine.com/ryan-fishbein/). After the shock wore off last season, with my parents help in planning, I set a much bigger goal: to complete two races of each level, a double trifecta. Although at 16 I'm not sure that I will still be the youngest, it is still a huge goal and I look forward to completing two more races, the Vermont Beast on September 20th and the Carolinas Beast on October 25th.
My dad, who has been my cheerleader and chauffeur, had once asked me if I wanted him to run with me. I think I said something like, "no, I got this." And so far, so good! I am both excited and nervous to finish these last two races, since it's all on me to succeed or fail. One of the Spartan values is to build a better person, and giving generously...so, I would like to run these races with some thing, not some one, much bigger than myself. I know that I am very fortunate to have the physical ability to compete and know there are so many other people who cannot, for many different reasons. I have decided to raise money for such a cause, the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County. Their mission is to treat and rehabilitate those with Cerebral Palsy and other developmental disabilities, and I believe it fits my beliefs; for this reason, I have set up a link to a home page called Ryan's Races. Please do not feel obligated in any way, but I have set a huge goal of raising $5,000 for this worthy cause and hope, by making a donation, you can run with me in spirit and in generosity.
I will keep you posted over the next two months. Thank You!
