Ryan's Rock in Central Park
Organized by: Nathan Shay
Ryan Shay is a running legend who passed away 5.5 miles into the 2008 Olympic Trials held in New York City in conjunction with the New York City Marathon. Ryan stepped off the course and came to rest at the top of the hill near the Central Park Boat House. With your help, we can establish a permanent memorial at this site so that Ryan's contributions to the running community will live on and inspire all those who train in Central Park every day or need a little extra inspiration as they near the finish of the New York City Marathon. (Please see the photo section for a sample of what the memorial rock will look like and where it will be placed.)
Our goal is to raise all funds by June 30th, 2015 so that the memorial will be ready for dedication in conjunction with the 2015 New York City Marathon, to be held in early November of that year.
All proceeds will ultimately be donated to the Central Park Conservancy, the agency responsible for the ongoing maintenance and beautification of Central Park.
