As we progress through the 21st century, technology in the classroom has become more important than ever. Having technological capabilities pushes our learners to new levels of thinking, creating, and learning as they can access an endless world of information, publish their work to a world-wide audience, and collaborate with peers from across the globe. Here at Sacred Heart, a bilingual Catholic school in the heart of DC, we are determined to provide these learning opportunities for our children so that they may rise up to meet their full, unique, and incredible potential as future global citizens of the world.
Unfortunately, our school is far from its goal of providing students with the technology needed to succeed. Our computer lab holds 20 outdated computers that frequently break down. Our students are often stuck spending time in front of frozen computer screens instead of reaping the benefits technology could (and should) be bringing into our learning environment.
Although sharing is caring, such is not always the case with technology! With one projector per floor, our teachers are exhausted from duking it out for their turn. The same frustration is shared by the students as they crowd around their teacher's personal lap tops in order to watch videos or type essays. While we make the best of what we have, we could be offering our learners so much more.
Our goal is to equip our classrooms with LCD projectors and the supporting accessories needed to give our learners access and exposure to the wealth of resources that the Internet has to offer. In addition, we'd love to improve the CPU's in our computer lab in order to ensure that each child has access to a working, modern computer.
In order to do this, we need your help. Help us in our endeavor to raise the funds needed to truly POWER UP our classrooms! Every dollar that you donate will serve to create a more fruitful, dynamic, and engaging learning environment for our students through the integration of quality, current technology.
With your help, we will be able to provide our learners with the education they need and deserve.
Thank you for all of your love and support!
