Hello! Thank you for taking a minute to visit my page. I am very grateful!!
Why am I on Team Hoyt? Here is my condensed story:
I was at Boston in 2013 when the bombings happened. It changed who I am today and who I am as a runner. I was fortunate enough to go back in 2014 and as I toed the line of the oldest, most beautiful marathon course in history, I realized how much the bombing had changed everything. Military and police command centers were at the start of this quiet, peaceful town and runners were wanded and had their baggage searched. The running world was indeed changed and it saddended me.
One thing that did not change: Team Hoyt. Boston Marathon has a long relationsip with this amazing father/son team of Dick and Rick Hoyt. If you have never had the opportunity and joy of watching Team Hoyt, I urge you to pull up one of the hundreds of videos on them. I guarantee you will be moved to the core. Each year I see this amazing duo, I am inspired by their strength, humbleness, and love. I vowed to myself on that start line this year if I was lucky enough to come back in 2015, I would not run for myself but I would find a way to run for their cause.
Thru a path so beautifully woven by God, I found myself moving from Minnesota to Texas just as I was trying to join Team Hoyt. I found that I not only would be on the team (to which point I started smiling and haven't stopped), but a former team mate named Phoebe was in the exact town I was moving to! With the wonders of social media and email, I connected with Phoebe before even stepping foot into Texas and found my first friend and a new running family thru her. Thank you Team Hoyt!
I know those who read this will be my friends who give so generously to the many causes that touch their own hearts. I ask only that you consider giving up tomorrow's latte to help mine. $5 can help a child or adult with physical limitations know what it feels like to run. To run! Team Hoyt's motto is 'Yes You Can!' Yes, we can make a difference to so many. Team Hoyt uses the money raised to 'help further the education of people living with disabilities to become active members of their communities. Since the inception of Team Hoyt, Dick and Rick have been working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for those living with disabilities'.
No one should be limited in any way. Ever.
Thank you again for taking the time to read this. Thank you for your friendship, support, and love.
