Safe Harbor wrote -Chances are you’ve met a survivor of violence. One in four women, and one in eight men, will be in an abusive relationship at some point in their lives. Now imagine that there was not a safe, confidential place for that survivor to turn to for help. Since the year 2000, Safe Harbor has been that place, providing services free of charge to those seeking help in Henrico County and the greater Richmond area. Safe Harbor supports over 1,000 survivors a year, providing shelter, counseling and advocacy, based on each individual need. At Safe Harbor, we believe every individual has the right to live a life free from violence. Our staff is here to provide education, support and referrals to other programs to help our clients to empower themselves to make choices for healthy relationships and safer lives. Your support of our work allows us to continue these essential services to those in need – and just maybe to someone you know.
