Your donation during the No More Campaign will directly support adults and children experiencing domestic violence. People like Olivia and baby Jackson.
Just days before she was due to have her first child, 23-year old Olivia made the brave decision to leave her abusive husband of three years. Having endured severe abuse from the start of their marriage, she feared for her life and that of her child. Olivia knew she couldn’t bring her baby into a home fraught with violence. Without any resources, family or close friends, SafeHouse Denver was Olivia’s only hope. Her tearful call to SafeHouse Denver’s Crisis Line was answered immediately and a bed was ready for her within an hour.
On a sunny November morning, just two days after arriving at the Shelter, Olivia delivered her healthy baby boy at a nearby hospital. She and newborn Jackson returned to the Shelter the next day and were quickly surrounded by skilled and caring Advocates. The new mom and her son were provided with basic necessities, support with newborn care, a loving environment and perhaps most importantly, hope for the future.
Olivia and Jackson were safe this past year because of caring people like you. Sadly, the need is still great and there are more women just like her who seek refuge at SafeHouse Denver every day. A gift of any amount truly makes an impact on our ability to offer safe shelter and non-residential counseling and advocacy services.
