BENEFITING: Saha Global
We are a group of ten sixth graders working with SAHA Global to help provide Ghanain rural communities with clean drinking water. We were introduced to SAHA by its founder Kate Cincotta who came to do a presentation in school. This experience is not just about raising money but also raising awareness. Some of us are going to do that by speaking about it at our bat mitzvahs, musical concerts, and communities.
SAHA means opportunity. SAHA Global provides access to safe drinking water to rural communities in Northern Ghana. SAHA Global partners with rural communities who lack access to safe drinking water, but do have access to contaminated surface water sources. Then, they train local women to use locally available products to treat the contaminated water and make it safe to drink. The women then sell the clean water to their community at an affordable price. SAHA Global was created in 2008. Over the past nine years one hundred villages have been provided with clean drinking water.
1. Every $12 can get can a single person water for life. About 400 people are in one village
2. $3 allows a family to have a year supply of buckets needed to hold water.
3. $5,000 gives clean water to one village and ten years of constant maintenance. Donations and support are greatly appreciated as SAHA makes it's way towards the goal of giving 800,000 a clean and contamination free water supply by 2023.
Thank you so much for your support!
