BENEFITING: THE MAYORS FUND TO ADVANCE NEW YORK CITY
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
I am running the NY marathon this year for the first time and wasn’t sure it would still be on after Hurricane Sandy, but it’s on this Sunday. As Mayor Bloomberg put it “The city is a city where we have to go on”. With the death count from Hurricane Sandy growing, hundreds of thousands still without power, and air, rail and ferry service struggling to resume, it must have been a hard choice. Part of this choice I believe is to lift spirits and raise money for people who are in need in the 5 boroughs. Preliminary estimate for total damage is in range of $20-$30 Billion and of course a big portion of that would come from insurers, but there is an immediate need for people suffering now so that first responders can be more effective.
I plead for your donation to the Mayor's fund at these rocky times. No donation too small, or too big. The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, which facilitates innovative public-private partnerships throughout NYC’s five boroughs.
