Ovarian cancer is a deadly disease charactarized by few early symptoms which results in a low rate of survival. Early diagnosis significantly increases the survival rate. Judy Robinson was an avid sailor and Harvest Moon Regatta participant who succumbed to this terrible disease in 2009. In response to this loss, the Sail-a-thon for Ovarian Cancer Awareness was initiated by the sailors who continue to participate in this event. The money raised is used to fund research and to raise awareness of the subtle symptoms that most times are overlooked. In 2012 a trophy was created to honor Judy Robinson. It is named Judy's Mission Perpetual Trophy and is displayed at the Lakewood Yacht Club. In 2015 over $18,000 was raised for this cause.
