BENEFITING: SAKHI FOR SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN
ORGANIZER: SAKHI FOR SOUTH ASIAN WOMEN
EVENT DATE: Apr 05, 2014
So I recently became a volunteer with Sakhi, an organization in NYC that helps survivors of domestic violence become financially independent and much more. I just signed up to do a 15K with them in March as a way to hold myself accountable to leave my super comfy couch once in a while and hopefully help someone else out in the process!
What's awesome about this is that any donation can have a tangible impact on someone's life:
- Give $10 = One woman can pay her co-payment for birth control pills so she can determine when and whether to have children.
- Give $20 = One woman living in a shelter can purchase groceries for herself and her children.
- Give $50 = One woman can open her first bank account.
If you can't donate right now, please consider sharing this with others on Facebook / Twitter / email.
For many women, coming to Sakhi is their only lifeline. Be a part of our mission of uniting survivors, communities, and institutions to eradicate domestic violence & form healthy communities. Click here to learn more about Sakhi.
Thanks so much for checking this out!
