BENEFITING: MIDWIVES FOR HAITI INC
I would love to some day do some volunteer work over in Haiti with the organization Midwives for Haiti.
Midwives for Haiti is an organization with a mission to:
~ reduce maternal and infant mortality rates in Haiti by teaching midwifery skills.
~To enhance maternal health by providing regular prenatal and postnatal care, including preventative services, by trained midwives.
~To provide safe, clean places for women to give birth.
~To incorporate care of the newborn, vaccines, dehydration treatment and prevention along with breastfeeding support with maternal care.
At this time I am not able to physically volunteer in Haiti because of other current obligations. I recently learned of another way that I could help such an amazing organization... FUNDRAISING money for a midwives salary.
Midwives for Haiti has already raised a portion of Marie's annual salary (total of $3600) but need help with raising the difference of $2280. You will see that my goal is to raise $2385. This amount includes the fees charged by crowdrise.
Please check out Marie's bio and, if you are able to, please make a contribution to her salary. This not only allows Midwives for Haiti to use the limited funds they have in other areas but also supports Marie's family. This in turn allows Marie to work as a midwife helping many, many women, children and babies in the villages that she is able to reach.
Marie works full-time for Midwives For Haiti as one of the four Mobile Clinic Midwives. She helps provide pre- and postnatal care to hundreds of mothers in 20 rural villages of Haiti each moth. In 2013 alone, Mobile Clinic performed over 5,000 patient visits to women who would otherwise have no access to care.
Marie has been a great addition to the team not only because of her organizational and practical skills, but also because of her leadership and encouragement. She is the only provider in her family and has recently been given a loan to build a new home. Sponsoring Marie will allow her to continue providing care to hundreds of women each month and supporting her three children (nine months old, nine years old and ten years old).
