BENEFITING: BRIGHT PINK
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2017
DAYS TO GO: 17
Over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2016, my friend Julia, at 30 years-old, was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She was 8 months pregnant. Julia and her baby girl are both doing great!! However, Julia just completd chemotherapy and radiation treatment and had a double mastectomy. I am inspired by Julia and want to do whatever I can to help other young women beat Breat Cancer.
In honor of Julia I am raising money for Bright Pink, whose mission is to save women’s lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age. Bright Pink is the only national non-profit organization focused on prevention and early detection of breast and ovarian cancer in young women. Their aim is to reach the 52 million young women in the United States between the ages of 18 and 45 with their innovative, life-saving breast and ovarian health programs, thereby empowering this and future generations of women to live healthier, happier, and longer lives. Bright Pink sees a world in which fewer people die from breast and ovarian cancer. They aim to educate and inspire women to move from awareness to action, practicing risk reduction and early detection as a part of a proactive life. Without funding, the extensive research and education on these types of cancers would not be what it is today. Organizations such as Bright Pink have made breast cancer beatable.
I am running the 40th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 8th, 2017 to raise money for Bright Pink to help them continue there mission.
Please donate to help with this cause. It doesn't matter if it's $1 or $100, every dollar counts!
