BENEFITING: FLORIDA COALITION AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE INC
It has been a very exhausting week dealing with all the emotions from the aftermath of the Pulse’s tragedy. One story in particular stood out for all of us at the House of Tan. The story of how a couple named Juan Rivera Valazquez and his partner Luis Conde were partners of 14 years owned a salon called D’Magazine Salon for the last 7 years in Kissimmee, Florida. They contributed often by helping out women of domestic abuse by taking their inner beauty glow to the outside to illuminate strength and renewed possibilities.
As a child survivor myself, it really ignited my dream to help those that have also been a victim to violence. I would really like help in sharing this post to challenge salons all over the country to do the same and keep Juan and Luis's passion alive and celebrate beauty. We can all do this by contributing in our own way and set up a #SalonUnites using our tools to bring out beauty from within all of us and those who have become a victim or should I say a SURVIVOR of mental and physical abuse. Since the Orlando tragedy, I have been compelled to somehow draw up my own expression of this feeling of loss; which can sometimes take you unwillingly back to your own personal whirlwind of abuse. I tried to bring something of a grand nature, but was having trouble getting local and online vendors to work with me. With the only goal—let it be about the victim’s and their loved ones. As most of us have seen, God tends to replenish, not with monetary means, but just love and open doors 3 times fold this I have witnessed many times. These lessons we try and teach our own kids about giving in any way of your own self expression positively, most of my time my children use their music poetically to make a difference, the rewards are worth it EVERY single time. So, as a friend would say, a long story short, Penni and I have created an expression of this tragedy from our own hearts and would love to have it on every refrigerator. It’s something we want everyone to remember the beauty within us all and MOST IMPORTANTLY-- don’t stay in a violent atmosphere. If you see a sequence of events that could hurt someone or a group of people PLEASE TELL SOMEONE, follow your gut. No one wants to turn on the TV again only to learn when the real story emerges this could of been prevented and innocent lives could have been spared and we would not be preparing for a mother, son, friend or brother and sister’s funeral.
After hearing a lot of no’s trying to share my heart to print, one more call was made before calling it quits for the day. Monica at 4Imprints answered the call she was very attentive person , she actually listened; not only did she hear me, but she was able to see my vision and put it all on this amazing magnet. 4Imprints donated all extra costs and is rushing the delivery to the House of Tan, by the end of next week, House of Tan will have these magnets and pens to share with everyone with ALL proceeds not after I reimburse myself but completely donating ALL to the Orlando victims and their families. Our personal goal is to raise a minimum of $1,000.00 and/for to fight domestic violence in Juan Valazquez and Luis Conde’s memory. Please repost this to all your family, friends businesses to start a chain of Salons all over the country to do the same. The D’Magazine’s Salon’s inner light will be forever lit to shine through all the hate. LOVE WINS!
