BENEFITING: Tribal Outreach Medical Assistance Foundation
EVENT DATE: Feb 16, 2017
The Tribal Outreach Medical Assistance Foundation is a humanitarian medical organization working with the Arhuaco, Wiwa and Kogui tribal communities in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Colombia. In February 2017 the TOMA team will return to install two solar systems for health posts and schools in the villages of Umake and Seynurwa. These are remote mountain communities far from electricity. The solar project will provide energy for vaccine refrigerators, microscopes, lights, dental compressors, and other lifesaving devices. This technology greatly increases the resilience and sulf-sufficiency of these communities in the face of changing political and climatological landscapes.
Our goal is to raise $20000 which will go to the following:
$10000 - Two complete solar systems which include solar panels, batteries, inverters and accessories
$7000 - Travel expenses for our 5 man team from USA to Santa Marta, Colombia
$3000 - Supplies, food, and gear for our team
Thank you for any contribution you choose to make. TOMA is an all-volunteer organization with 100% of donations used directly for the benefit and with the consent of the members of the Arhuaco, Wiwa and Kogui tribes.
