2015 was a success! You helped us raise $2,303 for kids this year! Kids have already gone shopping, but if you would like to get a head start on next year, you can donate today. We'll be back at it for the 2016-2017 school year!
Our mission is to fill as many backpacks as possible for youth in our community who are in the greatest need. Will you help us? Every year, The Salvation Army works with the community to take kids back-to-school shopping and give them the tools to succeed in school. These children are from low-income families who are struggling financially and where back-to-school shopping involves hand-me-downs and limited supplies for the year. The Salvation Army Echelon PDX Chapter is a group of young professionals working to mobilize the next generation. What better way to do that than to take an active part in the education and futures of underprivileged children in our community? In 2015, The Salvation Army Echelon PDX Chapter took 20 kids shopping, raising $2,303. Volunteers with The Salvation Army Echelon PDX Chapter literally took kids shopping at a local Fred Meyer Store. Each child was partnered with an adult who helped them pick out their school supplies for the year. Children may be able to pick out: -backpacks -pens/pencils -rulers -notebooks -crayons/markers -scissors -glue -new school clothes and shoes. Joining this cause will mean more children will receive these tools for success and will be able to proudly walk into the class this coming September with all the school supplies they need! Please help us empower our local youth to succeed!
