BENEFITING: THE SAMARITANS
ORGANIZER: THE SAMARITANS
EVENT DATE: Oct 25, 2015
In loving memory of my sister, Kimberly Marie Walsh, who commited suicide 21 years ago, I will be making the 4 mile walk over the Newport Bridge into downtown Newport for the fundraiser, "Cross the Bridge to Hope 2015", to benefit The Samaritans of Rhode Island on October 25.
As you may or may not know, The Samaritans of Rhode Island is a local non-profit, charitable organization that serves as a suicide prevention resource for Rhode Islanders. The organization consists of volunteers who provide support to individuals and families by befriending and listening to people in crisis without expressing personal judgments or opinions. The Samaritans offer many valuable programs including the Crisis Hotline/Listening Line, the Safe Place Grief Support Group, Youth and Teen Education, Community Education and the LifeLine Prison Inmate Volunteer Program. All of this is offered without cost to the residents of Rhode Island so donations are imperative to keep things running!
Please consider donating, on my behalf, to The Samaritans of Rhode Island. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and 100% of all donations support this great organization, which may truly be an individual's only support during a time of desperation!!!
