EVENT DATE: Sep 21, 2013
I'm working to raise money to support thePlace2b in Rock Island, IL. My goal is to raise $1,000 to skydive for the Falling for thePlace2b program. Find more information on thePlace2b below, send me a message if you have any questions. It's a great organization that I support with all my heart, and I would greatly appreciate your support as well.
Theplace2b opened in August 2010, geared up to help displaced, homeless or at- risk youth. The first youth referred to us was 17-yrs-old and came all the way from Arkansas, homeless and sleeping under someone’s bed. We began helping just one youth, and from there we have evolved to helping over 100 youth in the Quad City area. We provide youth with a meal, job skills, and a safe place to hangout. For many of youth that have come in here we have provided resources to other services in our community such as housing programs and referrals to other agencies. We have been lucky to have the support of our community through donations of food, clothing, and having generous volunteers.
Theplace2b’s mission is to help youth, ages 14-18, develop hope, increase resiliency and create successful lives of which they can be proud.
Theplace2b is a safe haven for homeless, displaced and at-risk youth in Rock Island and Scott Counties, located in the YWCA Annex in downtown Rock Island at 1600 2nd Avenue.
The center is open from 3:00-9:00 pm, Monday through Friday, providing warmth, food, clothing, shelter, homework help, creative programming, and counseling for the youth.
